This is the first book I have chosen to read as a chess newbie. Inside, renowned player Bobby Fischer highlights checkmate patterns, granting the reader the ability to assess the board and determine whether the pieces at play are able to bring the game to its end.

I have found it appropriate as a beginner’s learning material. I believe at this phase I should stick to familiarizing myself with the intuition of chess rather than memorizing openings or end-game strategies.

On the other hand, I have to admit that the more I learn, the more I become interested in chess theory. My excitement to consume books on specific openings and how they have developed over time is steadily rising.
