Simulation

I don’t know whether treating life as a game has shone a positive or negative light on my world view.

The main quest is long and tenuous, but supposedly fulfilling. The side quests are plentiful and diverse but there’s way too many skill trees to choose from.

All these NPCs turned out to be users and I don’t have the bandwidth to handle all their uniqueness. So I inevitably categorize them into a hierarchy of my choice.

The map is so big I probably won’t visit every nook and cranny. Although, its future expansion is exciting in prospect.

There are many unknowns, which is scary, many and yet-to-be-discovered, which is incredible.

In-game currency is very useful and brings many benefits. It’s not wonder why so many users, including myself, exchange at least 40 hours of our time for it every week. Selling out to capitalism is high-key very worth it.

There’s a lot of debate about who the game creator is. Multiple groups claim to know the truth, but the meta seems to be Christianity. Maybe Zeus of Odin will make a comeback.

Whoever did it, I’m alive and well so I guess you did a good job, but you definitely could’ve done better. I don’t know if this one-time create then hands-off approach is considered good parenting, but now we’re writing our own patch notes and more bugs are being fixed than created (hopefully).

There still is a balance issue, especially at spawn, which is a dice roll, really. We’re still trying to solve that but it’s unlikely to fully disappear.

Whether there’s a sequel is also a mystery. Allegedly there are three possibilities: Ver. Heaven, Hell, or Re-spawn. As we have no record of travelers who made it back from heaven or hell, the only scenario I can at least imagine somewhat accurately is re-spawn. Heaven sounds good in spirit but I don’t think I’ll make it. They should really clarify the entry requirements so I can plan this beforehand.

All in all, I haven’t made it to any leaderboards yet. But there’s no rush, really. I’m just enjoying the game as it is.
